Historically chess is a game structured by rules and parameters set upon two opposing teams. The objective is to capture the opponent’s players, leading up to the capture of the opponent’s king. However, this model allows any piece to be played for either side, leaving teams discernible only when players agree which pieces belong to them and which belong to the other. As the mobility of each piece to be rotated allows for new moves and parameters, the rules of the game must be decided upon by participants, requiring dialogue and agreement prior to an otherwise partisan contest.
