Concrete, Soil
Concrete is the second most consumed material on Earth after water. It represents civilizations cumulative effect upon the diminishing natural environment. In this installation it takes the form of a collapsing column, an orthogonal square, and a rounded landscape. Each sits atop soil local to Wisconsin, brought from a place once resided upon by the Ho-Chunk people. The displacement of the environment, history, and memory of the land are represented through these contrasting materials.
